The Early American Industries Association—85th annual meeting
Date: May 23-26, 2018
Location: Bethlehem, PA
Website: http://eaiainfo.org/
The Early American Industries Association will be holding its 85th annual meeting May 23-26 in Bethlehem PA. Having been to many of these meetings I can attest to how fantastic they are and what a great job the EAIA does in organizing them. I was personally involved in setting up this meeting and it’s going to be special.
The meeting is centered around the Lehigh Valley and the history of the Moravians, a religious sect that is still going strong today. Some of the highlights include:
- The Moravian Archives
- The Bethlehem steel stacks
- The Museum of Industrial History
- The Kemerer Museum
- The Pennsylvania Long Rifle Museum
- A tour of Martin Guitar and the Martin Guitar Museum
There will also be an antique and user tool auction, a silent auction, a dealer sale, tailgating and our banquet.
Henry Disston Jr. will give a talk on the Disston Saw Company and play his musical saw.
There’s so much more so if you’re interested go to the EAIA website for more information.
The Woodworking Shows – 2018
The Guild once again participated in “The WoodWorking Shows – 2018”, held at the Meadowlands Expo Center, Secaucus, NJ. Over the three days, we built and gave away almost 40 toolboxes and collected about 50 e-mail addresses! Thank you to all who volunteered.
